South Asian English Language and Literature Association (SELLTA) is the educational wing of Mathuram Trust, which develops and fosters excellence in the field of education by providing a platform for teachers of English from South Asia to put across their research findings. It organizes International conferences, seminars, workshops and symposiums for teachers of English and Research Scholars in English Language and Literature. It emphasis on academic excellence by facilitating exchange of innovative ideas in the field of English Language and Literature

Mother Teresa Women's University is situated at Kodaikanal, a quiet hill station tucked away in the Palani hills of South India. This University was established in the year 1984 by the enactment of Tamil Nadu Act 15. This University aims to extend its service to women students of all communities. It strives for Academic Excellence and Personality Development and gives equal importance for promotion of employment prospects to young girls.

Bishop Heber College is a religious minority educational institution established by the Tiruchirappalli–Thanjavur Diocese of the Church of South India. It traces its origin to Heber Memorial School, founded in 1864. The School became a Second Grade College in 1873 and was elevated to a First Grade College in 1882 under the name S.P.G. College, becoming the first college established in Tiruchirappalli. Following the recommendation of the Lindsay Commission on Christian Higher Education in India, the College was merged with Madras Christian College and closed in 1934. Bishop Heber College was revived on 24 June 1966 and celebrated the Diamond Jubilee of its revival in June 2026. The University Grants Commission granted autonomy to the College in 2004–2005. It was accredited with Five-Star status by NAAC in 2001. In 2024, the College received the prestigious A++ grade from NAAC. The UGC recognised it as a “College with Potential for Excellence” in 2011 and elevated it to the status of “College of Excellence” in 2017. 

The Department of English was established when the College was revived in 1966, initially offering General English for PUC classes. The undergraduate programme was introduced in 1977, followed by the postgraduate programme in 1979. The M.Phil. programme began in 1988, and the doctoral research programme was introduced in 1994, making it a full-fledged research department with both full-time and part-time scholars. The self-financed undergraduate and postgraduate programmes were started in 2010 and 2012 respectively

Vivekananda College came into existence in July 1965. It was established by the Vivekananda Educational Society, Agasteeswaram as a living memorial to Swami Vivekananda to commemorate his birth centenary. This noblest dream was fulfilled by the collective effort of Shri. S.D. Pandiya Nadar and G.A. Marthandan. 

The college is located in the serene, green surroundings of Agasteeswaram near Kanyakumari, the southern tip of India. The primary aim of the society and the institution is to nurture students from diverse backgrounds in the spirit of national integration, cultural awareness, and universal peace through the teachings and philosophy of Swami Vivekananda.

The Department of English was established in 1967. In addition to the academic endeavours, the faculty members also exhibit keen interest in transforming the learners into competent individuals by equipping them with effective communication skills, enhancing their critical approach to the literary works and updating them with the emerging trends in literature.
